Why We Love Tom
Tom is a very cool guy. Who else in the Tolkien saga wanders around singing happy rhymes? No one!
Who else in the Tolkien saga provides a light and humorous distraction for the charter members of the fellowship? No one!
No, for humor and for happiness, we must seek out Tom Bombadil.
Some benighted people call Tom "pointless" or "the Useless Homosexual Subtext Character"-- well, nothing could be further from the truth.
We all know and understand the essence of Tom, and we think there is nothing wrong with the word "dillo." Dillo to you too, Tom-haters! Dillo, dillo, dillo, dillo! Mwahahahahah!
And so what if he's the "Useless Homosexual Subtext Character?" Are you saying useless homosexual subtexts are bad? Is that what you are saying? Because that's offensive. I heard you mentioning the nude scene at Cirith Ungol, and that is not a homosexual subtext, my friend. Subtexts have to be subtle, as Tom is. Frodo in the nude expressing his deep feelings for Sam is NOT SUBTLE. Ahem.
So, in conclusion, Tom Bombadil rocks my socks!
